A new player in trucking is preparing to move freight as autonomous trucking takes a unique turn. Humble Robotics Founder and CEO Eyal Cohen joins The Intermodal Logistics Podcast to talk about his young company and why, after several years working on electric and autonomous vehicles, he decided to focus specifically on freight.
Eyal walks through how the Humble Hauler is designed to support drayage capacity at ports and rail ramps with the ability to move containers - currently 40-foot units, with a 53-foot option on the way. He shares how the cab-less, futuristic look was inspired by the automated guided vehicles (AGVs) used within the Port of Long Beach, and how his team advanced that concept into a roadworthy vehicle targeting a 150-mile range while still keeping the platform lightweight - critical for intermodal and freight efficiency.
We also explore why the timing matters - especially as robotaxi companies are expanding their footprint and drayage faces real capacity pressure with stricter regulations pushing some drivers out of the market. Eyal explains how Humble plans to manage charging for these electric vehicles and how they are approaching road safety, cargo security, shipment tracking, and traditionally human, face-to-face interactions. Finally, we cover what kinds of companies are expressing interest, when these units are expected to go live, and what else Humble has in development.
