Leading TIA - Intermodal Logistics Podcast

February 20, 2025 Kevin Baxter

Intermodal Logistics Podcast TIA

After talking with the new leader of the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) on our last episode, we turn to the organization she left, as Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) President and CEO Chris Burroughs joins us on the latest edition of The Intermodal Logistics Podcast.

Chris talks about how his extensive background with TIA - he's been there 14 years now - has helped him hit the ground running as leader of the association. He gives us an update on fraud - both the impact and the measures TIA is pursuing to stop it - as well as how the problem has evolved with technology and AI advances. He tells us of the financial impact of fraud on carriers and another issue that can threaten trucking companies' existence - nuclear verdicts related to accidents.

With years of experience in Washington, Chris shares his thoughts on the second Trump Administration so far, and how TIA is working with the key players to keep members' priorities front and center. He discusses how fast things have been moving so far and shares concerns that cuts to federal agencies could hinder enforcement measures that would help attack issues like the aforementioned fraud.

We also discuss what TIA does, who makes up its membership and resources like an increasingly robust education series hitting a wide variety of freight and logistics avenues that are available to members. And Chris shares the dates of the upcoming Capital Ideas Conference - happening April 9-12 in San Antonio. For more on TIA, visit www.tianet.org, where you can also register to become a member, access resources and learn more about the conference.
