Truck fleet, capacity, rates & outlook - Intermodal Logistics Podcast
2:11
Podcast Tim Denoyer April 26

The trucking market has seen no shortage of activity of late, so we are bringing back a familiar voice on  The Intermodal Logistics Podcast to help make sense of it all. ACT Research VP and Senior Analyst Tim Denoyer joins us as our first ever live in-studio guest to unpack truck production trends, the current health of the fleet, and what those signals mean for future capacity and freight activity.

We also dig into FMCSA enforcement actions and their market impact, the way elevated diesel prices tied to the Iran conflict are changing truck driver (and general highway driver) behavior - and shipper costs, and why the combination of higher rates and fuel is clearly creating a favorable window for intermodal (if shippers are willing to give it a go).

On top of that, Tim shares his perspective on freight volumes more broadly, including what he is seeing in manufacturing, how the Federal Reserve and interest rates are likely to move (and their influence on demand), the role of tariffs in both truck production and the market outlook, and whether AI data centers are meaningfully moving the needle on volume.
